          Oddly enough there are many Buddhists who want to attain  'nibbana'  even though they do not know the slightest bit about what  'nibbana' really is. Once in the meeting I put forward a question which had nothing to do with the names of various things.

          I asked "If there were two places of which one place could offer people whatever thing or things there were to ask for, while the other place could offer those who reach it the peace of mind and set them free from the binding power of every aspect of disturbing emotions untill finally nothing is left to stir the arising of all sorts of carvings, which place would you choose to go to? "

          That was what I asked. Everyone who answered said that they would prefer to go to the first place. Two or three people kept silent. They were silent because they knew that the question was a trick. They were afraid to err so they kept silent. Were they to answer, they would probably choose the same answer as the rest of the group. Then I proceed to ask, ''When you reach that place, what would you want to ask for? " The reply was the best of things which they could use for making a highest merit as desired. I asked, "What for?" Some people said that they wished to do so in order to be able to go to heaven while some others hopes to be able to attain 'nibbana'.

Thai Language (Buddhism Topic) : ธรรมทาน ๓   "อสนฺโต นิรยํ เนนฺติ สนฺโต ปาเปนฺติ สุคติ" อสัตบุรุษย่อมนำไปสู่นรก สัตบุรุษย่อมให้ถึงสุคติ ความจริง คนพาลมีอยู่ในที่ใด ความเสื่อมเสียย่อมมีอยู่ในที่นั้น คนดีมีอยู่ในที่ใด ความสมบูรณ์งอกงามด้วยโภคทรัพย์ ลาภ ผล ยศ สรรเสริญ สุข ย่อมมีในที่นั้น เพราะคนพาลไม่ประสงค์ความสงบเรียบร้อย แม้ในหมู่ของตนก็เอาความสงบเรียบร้อยไม่ได้ ซึ่งสมด้วยพุทธภาษิตในธรรมบทขุททกนิกายว่า  "ตถฺถิ  พาเล สหายตา" ความเป็นสหายในชนพาลย่อมไม่มี ดังนี้ เพราะคนพาลไม่มีธรรมเครื่องรักษากาย วาจา ใจ ให้เป็นปกติ จะทำการงานร่วมกันได้ในกาลบางครั้งก็เพราะชอบใจกัน มีความเห็นลงรอยกัน หาใช่เพราะคุณธรรมคือ ศีล สมาธิ ปัญญาไม่ ฉะนั้นคนพาลกล่าวคืออสัตบุรุษจึงไม่ใช่ผู้นำประชุมชนอยู่ร่วมกันให้ได้รับความสุข มีแต่นำไปประสบทุกข์เท่านั้น สมดังประพันธ์พุทธภาษิตมีในธรรมบทขุททกนิกายว่า  "ทุกฺโข พาเลหิ สํวาโส อมิตฺเตเนว สพฺพทา" อยู่ร่วมกับคนพาล ย่อมให้เกิดทุกข์ทุกเมื่อเหมือนอยู่ร่วมกับศัตรู ฉะนั้น ส่วนสัตบุรุษนั้นท่านเป็นผู้มีคุณธรรมเครื่องรักษาน้ำใจของตนเองด้วย จึงสามารถนำบ...

  Thai Language (Buddhism Topic) : ธรรมทาน ๙ ทุกโข พาเลหิ สํวาโส อมิตฺเตเนว สพฺพทา ธีโร จ สุขสํวาโส ญาตีนํ สมาคโม อยู่ร่วมกับคนพาลให้เกิดทุกข์ในกาลทุกเมื่อ เหมือนอยู่ร่วมกับศัตรูฯ ผู้มีปัญญามีอันอยู่ร่วมเป็นสุข เหมือนการสมาคมแห่งญาติทั้งหลายฯ พระพุทธภาษิตทั้ง ๒ นี้ มีเนื้อความดังจะบรรยายต่อไป ในพุทธภาษิตข้อต้นว่า ความอยู่ร่วม ได้แก่ การสมาคม ทำความติดต่อคบหากัน อยู่ในที่แห่งเดียวกันจนถึงสนิทสนมกันฯ คำว่าคนพาล ได้แก่ คนโง่เขลาไม่มีปัญญารู้เท่าทันเหตุการณ์ หรือคนที่ประพฤติชั่วช้าลามกมีประการต่างๆ ในมังคลัตถทีปนีท่านกล่าวลักษณะคนพาลไว้ว่า คนพาลได้แก่ ผู้ที่เป็นอยู่สักมีลมหายใจเข้าออก ไม่มีปัญญา เป็นผู้ถือเอาแต่สิ่งที่ไม่มีประโยชน์ทั้ง ๒ คือ ประโยชน์ในโลกนี้และประโยชน์ในโลกหน้า อนึ่ง จะพูด จะทำ จะคิดสิ่งใด ก็บริบูรณ์ไปด้วยทุจริต เห็นผิดจากครรลองคลองธรรม บำเพ็ญตนเป็นคนรกโลก ไม่ทำประโยชน์แก่ตนเองและคนอื่น เป็นผู้หลับไม่ตื่นฯ การอยู่ร่วมกับคนพาล เป็นเหตุให้เกิดทุกข์ได้อย่างไร มีอธิบายดังนี้ เราทราบกันแล้วว่า คนพาลได้แก่คนชนิดใด ดีหรือชั่วประการใด ตามธรรมดามนุษย์เราอยู่ร่วมคบหาสมาคมกันเฉยๆ...
